LYTTELTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
At the meeting of this Counoil held on Monday evening there were present—Hie Worship the Mayor and Crs. Hobden, Radcliffe, Cook, Laurenson, Brioe, Owen, Webb, Illingsworth, and Stin-on. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows :—From Messrs Edwards, Bennett and Co., asking what amount the Counoil would accept to cancel the lease of the store occupied by the writers on Gladatone pier. The matter was referred to a Special Committee, consisting of Crs. Webb, Brice and Laurenson, to deal with. From A. Barbour, asking the Counoil to effect certain repairs to the shop leased by him. The Estates Committee to report. From Mrs Bailey, relative to the open* ing of a road through her property. Referred to the Works Committee. From H. Semmena, requesting the Council to form the road leading to his property. The Works Committee to report. From W. Putnam, Heathcote Valley, asking to have the water laid on to his property. The Water Supply Committee to deal with the matter. The Bathing Committee reported that the bathing place had now been put in temporary order. The Committee advised that tenders be invited from persons willing to occupy the cottage and collect the bathing fees. The report was adopted. The Finance Committee reported receipts since last meeting £360 8a 10d, and advised payments amounting to £20510 a 6d. The report of the WorkCommittee detailed the work done during the past fortnight. It waa decided to have the names of the streets and roads placed at the corners. The providing of better appliances for filling the water carts for street watering waa referred to the Water Supply Committee to report upon. The meeting then terminated.
