DRAINAGE BOARD.

An ordinary monthly meeting of the Christchurch Drainage Board was held yesterday, when there were present —Messrs H. Crooks (voted to the chair), C. Burgess, R. Hill Fisher, R. M. Taylor, Geo. Mclntyre and S. Smart. The Secretary and Treasurer reported that the amount of rates received since last meeting had bean £1490 6s 6d ; received from other sources, £8; expenditure since last meeting, rate account. £342 ls 9d ; amount of 1892 rates outstanding, £143 3s Id ; amount of 1895 rates outstanding, £72 19a 9J ; amount of 1894 rates outstanding, £215 17s 7d ; amount of 1894* rates collected to date, £18,830 53 lOd ; amount of 1895 rates collected to date, £5086 12a ; debit balauce. £4253 15s Id. The E igincer reported that the removal asked tor by Mr Hewitt would affect the water level in tbe Wilderness road drain for a distance of 1500 feet, or about half way back to Stark's road. He recommended that the work of cleaning out the drain on Qua id's road be put in hand when funds /.ore available. The bridge over the outfall irain at Dyer's road had to be renewed at a cost of £16 3s 4d. It was resolved that the necessary work of cleaning out the drain on Qaaid'd road be put in hand, the cost not to exceed £5. The report was adopted. Mr L. A. Nicoll wrote, asking for permission to erect a landing stage on the north bank of the Avou, between Cowliahaw'a Corner and the culvert. It would not, in any way, interfere with the boating. • The Engineer reported that he had replied there was no objection to the proposed structure, provided the waterway was not interfered with. The Christcliurch Plumbers' and Gasfitters' Union wrote stating that Mr S. Morrison was not now» member of the Union, aud could not represent it as examiner. On the motion of Mr Mclntyre the letter was referred to the Engineer to report upon. Accounts to the amount of £342 ls 9d were passed for payment, aud the Board then adjourned.
