Speed-Up For Bay Travellers

With the speeding up of the Bay of Plenty express tran service between Taneatua and Auckland, which commences next Monday, a number of changes have had to be' made with connecting bus services. This change is more marked in the Whakatane district where an evening bus to Opotiki carrying train "passengers further east has had to be engaged. This bus which normally leaves Rotorua at 5 p.m. is to leave as from Monday at 4.45 p.m. It will arrive at Whakatane earlier and will link with the earlier arrival of the Taneatua express. It is scheduled to leave Opotiki at 6.50 p.m. instead of the present 7.10 p.m. Because of an improvement in the roads the Gisborne to Auckland afternoon bus service has also been speeded up. It now reaches Whakatane earlier and leaves at 4.15 p.m. instead of 4.30 as previously. All these services have been speeded up to improve travelling for people in the Bay of Plenty.
