Te Puke Values Remain Firm

New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. reports as follows on their Te Puke stock sale held on Tuesday.

A large yarding of pigs was disposed of with values for all classes except weaners remaining very firm at late rates. Values for weaners were slightly easier but there was a keen demand for all pigs from small stores upwards. The demand was also very keen for -fat and store and boner cows with values fully on a par with late rates.

The entry of 2-tooth ewes and wethers ex Gisborne attracted a Large bench of buyers. So far this year there are not sufficient sheep coming forward to meet the demand.

The following is a range of prices realised: —

Pigs: Choppers, £6 to £9; prime heavy baconers, £7 2s to £7 3s; medium baconers, £6 15s to £7 Is; light baconers, £6 6s to £6 12s; large buttermilk pigs, £5 17s to £6 3s; heavy porkers, £5 5s to £5 15s; medium store pigs, £4 15s to £5 3s; small store pigs; £3 15s to £4- 10s; slips, £2 10s to £3 10s; weaners, £1 15s to £2 15s.

Cattle: Fat cows ex dairy, £ll to £l4- light fat cows, £8 to £10; boner cows, £7 to £9; light boner cows. £3 to £6.

Sheep: Two-tooth ewes, £4 ss; 2-tooth wethers, £2 10s to £2 15s 9d.
