Appeals Dismissed Appeals against the granting of a wholesaler’s licence to S. Hirst, of Whakatane, were dismissed by the Licensing Control Commission in Hamilton on Friday.

The Whakatane Board Mills Social Club successfully defended the St John Shield against the Whakatane Board Mill St John team on Wednesday night scoring 9/3, 9/6, 10/1. The teams were Board' Mill Social Club, S. Butcher, K. Hannah, W. Smith and W. Howat (skip) and Board Mill St John M. Mason, J. Love, J. Doust and H. Moen. The next challenge for the shield is to be played this week against the Whakatane Legion of Frontiersmen.
