The Thornton Indoor Bowling Club team won the Whakatane St. John indoor bowling tournament on Saturday. The games were played in two sections which resulted in the following scores:B—---—1: Taneatua M.U.1.0.0.F. 3 wins, Edgecumbe Druids 0, Thornton 4, Legion of Frontiersmen 3, Catholic 1.8. C. 2. Whakatane St. J®hn 3.
Section 2: Board Mills Social Club 5 wins, Board Mill St. John 2, Edgecumbe St. John 0, Awakeri 1.8. C. 2, Whakatane Druids 4, Whakatane 1.8. C. 2.
■ The two section winners,' Thornton Indoor Bowling Club and Board Mill Social Club, met in the final which was won 8/2 by Thornton.
Playing for Thornton were W. Hanright, H. Fisher, R. Southcombe and O. Burnett and the Board Mill team was W. Howat, R. Haultain, G. Bridgeman and S. Butcher.
