Police Cat Recruits More
Constable Tibbs, of the Taranaki Street Police Station, Wellington, gave birth to five kittens on Tuesdajr. Her grand total for the past 12 months is now 18, stated an unofficial police report. The cat joined the force 18 months ago and has an impressive record. On October 12, 1949, she gave birth to five kittens and on February 1 this year to eight, a It is not every cat that gives birth to so many kittens in so" little time and the men at the station are proud of her.
She seems to believe she has the task of providing kittens for every station, and she appears to be going about it in a conscientious spirit. Word of her achievements has passed to other stations, and a fairly long list of applications for her kittens now adorns the wall above her bed. There was only one request for a female, and this apparently met with opposition, as it has been most firmly crossed out. However, Tibbs does not appear ashamed of having produced only cne male in her latest brood, and in fact purrs proudly as she looks at the five blind bundles of fur crawling round her box.
