Health Department To Tackle Problem Of Maladjusted Child
,The Health Department intended to attack the problem of the maladjusted child when work in the field of crippled children had been consolidated, the'Minister of Health, Mr Watts, told the annual conference of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society. New Zealand lagged behind oth°r countries in this field, said Mr Watts.
If it appeared that the Government had not gone as far in attacking the problem of cerebral palsy as some would have liked, it was because he and his department had decided to approve only plans, which had a good prospect of success. Plans which could be fulfilled in three, four or five years were of more value than promises which could probably not be fulfilled, said Mr Watts. He and Dr G. A. Q. Lernare, of the Queen Elizabeth Physical Disorders Hospital,' Rotorua, had a discussion each month on the progress of the work.
