For joining fine and soft wools, darn the end of the new wool into the end of the first ball for a few inches. For joining thick wool unravel the wool from the work end and the end of the ball. Cut off two of the stands from each piece. Twist the remaining ends together and proceed with the knitting. A system of underwater sound generators developed in the United States permits vessels to travel safely in foggy wpather through crowded harbours and along narrow shipping lanes.. These generators, placed in pairs on each side of the traffic lane, give off pulses that are picked up by receiving equipment on the vessels.
