CUTFIELD, LVXTON AND MOORE ARE GOLF CHAMPIONS

Finals of the Whakatane Golf Club’s championships were played yesterday with successes for C. Cutfield, L. Luxton and A. J. Moore. The course "was in good fettle after rain and the matches drew a lot of attention from club members. The championships were played over 36 holes. L. Cutfield beat R. T. Morpeth in a senior semifinal on Saturday and he made sound work of defeating the veteran W. Steel 9‘ and 8 yesterday. Luxton took the intermediate title after a hard-fought game with H. Pearson. J. Moore, whose steady improvement has been a feature of the season’s junior play, beat R. Cave. Championship consolation flights were finalised with wins for A. E. Conway (senior), J. Hanson (intermediate) and E. Shuker (junior).

Winners received the congratulations of members at the end of the day.
