History Of Farming In New Zealand Is Recorded
An invaluable documentation of NJew Zealand’s farming industry has begun with the publication by the Department of Agriculture of “Farming in New Zealand,” volume one. This handsomely bound 340page book, generously illustrated with maps and photographs, and with' an attractive dust jacket on which a Geo. Chance photograph is reproduced in colour, is an ambitious venture even for a department that has won wide recognition for the quality of its publications.
The series of volumes planned, of which this publication is the first will cover all phases of farming in the Dominion and will be a work befitting in quality and scope the high place New Zealand agriculture has attained. This first volume is complete in itself and may be considered as an introductory survey of the whole industry.
The 10 Departmental officers who contribute the chapters in the book are acknowledged authorities on their subjects and their contributions in “The Journal of Agriculture” have won wide recognition of the department’s work.
