Tauranga Launch Ashore; Helped Off by Whakatane Ship
With Tauranga harbour board secretary, Mr Walker aboard, the launch Hukarere, of Tauranga, skippered by Mr T. Gibb, went ashore with a broken rudder stock off the Whakatane golf links on Thursday night. Radio Whakatane (Mr H. Brabant) received a call at 9 p.m. and the Port Whakatane went to assist the launch Pearl to refloat the Hukarere. A line was got to her but it was two o’clock yesterday afternoon before she was pulled off.
