Power Wanted For Shop Windows

Shop windows in the main business area of Whakatane would consume about 8000 watts, or one unit an hour, it was- stated by Mr Thatcher at a Chamber, of Commerce meeting on Thursday night. He thought the Borough Council should be asked why business premises could not have quotas, to be used as thought fit.

At this stage of the year, said the chairman, Mr B. L. Butler, if shop windows were lit, less power would be used than was the case a month or so ago.

It was decided to ask the Borough Council for power for shop window lighting on late nights.
