Bacon Pigs In Keen Demand At Edgecumbe Fortnightly Sale
A large yarding of pigs were penned at the fortnightly sale of the Farmers' Co-op. Auctioneering Company held at Edgecumbe. The yarding consisted mostly of store and buttermilk pigs with a small entry of good quality bacon which was in keen demand.
Store pigs showed a slight easing on recent high rates while bacon, which was very keenly sort, sold up to £7 16s. Quotations: —
Small choppers to £5 15s; heavy bacon to £7 16s; medium bacon, £6 18s to £7 6s; light bacon, £6 to £6 10s; heavy pork and feeders, £5 3s to £5 16s; medium pork, £4 18s to £5 6s; good stores, £4 8s to £4 16s; medium stores, £3 15s to £4 ss; small stores and slips, £2 18s to £3 12s; best weaners, £2 8s to £2 14s; others, 36s to £2 2s.
