Bay Farmers Want Penicillin Supplies Through N.D.A.
A decision to request that supplies of penicillin be made available to farmers through the National Dairy Association was reached at a meeting of Bay of Plenty Federated Farmers at Whakatane yesterday. This was moved by the Te Puke branch, which expressed concern at the report that future supplies were to be made available only through chemists and veterinarians. They wanted supplies made available as before through dairy factories.
It was considered that it might cost more and be more difficult to obtain. Veterinarians were keen to have penicillin under proper control, Mr I. B. Gow, Rangitaiki, pointed out because of the dangers associated with it. They had felt that there was a possibility of old supplies being sold, which would be of no use to farmers. It was a precautionary move on their part to safeguard the use of penicillin.
