Taneatua Women’s Instiute
At their recent meeting members of the Taneatua Women’s Institute listened to an account of the Dominion Conference at Christchurch given by the president, Mrs Gray. Mrs Gray spoke briefly of all aspects of the conference, making particular mention of the excellent display of arts and crafts. In view of the unhappy and unsettled state of the world, it v/as decided in future to open the meetings with a prayer for peace. This was the suggestion of Mrs G. Bennett, who also read a suitable prayer. Entertainment was provided by the Glee Club which gave two items.
Competitions resulted: — Flower, Mrs W. Merrie 1, Mrs K. Tebbutt 2, Mrs A. L. Richardson 3; vegetable, Mrs L. Gray 1, Mrs K. Allen 2; shrub, Mrs M. Ewart 1, Mrs R. Ricketts 2, Mrs Allen 3; sugar bag apron, Mrs G. Santon 1, Mrs Richardson 2, Mrs A. Torrie 3; date loaf, Mrs J. Downs 1.
