Over 160 Post Office Employees At Bay Sports Meeting

More than 160 members of the post office staffs from Whakatane, Tauranga, Te Puke and Opotiki attended the first annual sports meeting of Bay of Plenty post offices held at Whakatane yesterday. Basketball and Rugby were the main games played, Tauranga being the most successful to win both competitions. In the basketball Te Puke were second, Opotiki third and Whakatane fourth.

The visitors were welcomed by the Whakatane postmaster, Mr G. A. Wilkes and Mr R. Kenny. Visiting postmasters and team captains replied. Detailed results:—

Rugby: Tauranga 10 v Opotiki 5, Tauranga 14 v Whakatane O, Opotiki 3 v Te Puke 0, Te Pu£e 3 V Whakatane 3.

Basketball: Tauranga 6 v Opotiki 5, Te Puke 9 v Whakatane 4, Te Puke 8 v Tauranga 7, Opotiki 9 V Whakatane 5, Tauranga 10 v Whakatane 2, Te Puke 12 v Opotiki 10.
