WHAKATANE TEAMS TRAINING In preparation for the approaching shield games all representative players for the Whakatane senior A and B and junior Rugby teams are training together every Sunday morning from 10 o’clock on the Whakatane Rugby Field. The selectors of each team are in attendance and are observing the form of each player as the training progresses. Last Sunday there was a very poor attendance but the training runs will be held again this week-end. All players for either of the three teams are warned that they must attend these practices or realise that they will not be considered for selection.

GALATEA MOORE SHIELD TEAM The following is the Galatea senior B Rugby team to play Whaka.tane for the Moore Shield at Whakatane on August s: Forwards, Dixon, Flavell, D. Wilson, Edmunds, Howden, S. Ohlsen, Russell Katene; backs, Marsh, Rolleston, McCorkindale, B. Hall, S. Higgins, Amorangi, Riddell. Emergencies, Wharepapa, Temara, T. Hall and T. Cawte.

WAIMANA’S NARROW LOSS The Waimana senior Rugby team had a narow loss when they were defeated by Opotiki United 16-11 on Saturday. Some interesting football was seen and the Waimana team put on a sparkling display to hold the leading team in the Opotiki competition.
