More Billets Wanted For Members Of The Blind Institute Band
.More billets are wanted at Whakatane for members of the Blind Institute Band, which is to present a concert at Whakatane on July 31. All members of the band are either partially or totally blind but they can care for themselves. Accommodation is wanted for the men in private homes for one night. The secretary organising the Whakatane visit is Mr H. M. Dewar, but he has found difficulty in finding billets in private homes. About 24 are wanted and at the present time he has only been able to get half a dozen. Some people have intimated that they would be willing to pay the expenses of one member of the band at an hotel. Mr Dewar said yesterday that this fer would be accepted in lieu of private billets. The band will be leaving Whakatane after the concert to tour the eastern coastal districts. No trouble has been found in billeting the band in the smaller centres.
