Wedding
GEAR—PHILLIPS An attractive rainbow wedding recently took place at St. George's Church, Whakatane, when Patricia Dawn, second eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs H. E. Phillips, was married tp Peter Basil, youngest son of Mrs A. Gear, and the late Mr Gear, Auckland. . The Rev. L. Loten officiated.
The bride wore a gown of lace over satin, made with a high neckline with bishop sleeves and cut on slimming lines, falling away to form a long train. Her long veil of uncut tulle was held in place with a coronet of feather and organdie flowers. She carried a shower bouquet of chrysanthemums, maiden hair and asparagus fern mixed with centuria montana.
The bridesma.ds, Misses Lorna and Lois Phillips, sisters of the bride, and Mrs Jean Southcombe, matron of honour, wore frocks of organdie over satin in pink, blue, and lemon respectively. They wore matching coronets of feather and organdie flowers and carried crescent shaped bouquets of mixed flowers to tone with their frocks. The best man was Mr Jim Gear.
A reception was held in the Caledonian Hall, where guests were received by the bride's mother, who wore a maroon costume with black accessories. She was assisted by the bridegroom's mother, who wore a blue coat and matching accessories. The beautiful three tiered cake was made by the bride's grandmother, Mrs T. A. Phillips, Hawera, who als-j raaae ~he bouquets. The bride choose for travelling a blue beaded frock with black accessories.
