How To Treat New Carpets
When carpets are new there is a fair amount of loose wool in the pile left there in the course of manufacture and if the carpet is vigorously brushed this loose wgol will come to the surface and cause some misgiving to the householder. In point of fact, it is of no real consequence, but it is better to lightly brush a new carpet for the first few weeks. It is a distinct advantage if the majority of this loose wool is allowed to sink down into the base of the pile, where it will be felt, and form a support to the pile, helping to resist the tendency to lean over in one direction or another thus improving the wearing potentialities of the fabric.
