GALATEA A. & P. TROPHIES ARE PRESENTED
At a dance held in the Galatea School presentations were made to the winners in the various sections of the Galatea Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s Show held in January. The Chairman of the Society, Mr J. Wilson, addressed the gathering and called on Mrs F. Gibbs, Murupara, to present the trophies and ribbons.
For the social side of the evening, music was supplied by Mrs F. Walsh and Mrs E. J. Bridgman, two Monte Carlos being won by Mr and Mrs V. Esmond of Galatea. The presentations were:—
Hall and Stewart Cup for most points in grade dairy cattle section, S. White, Murupara. G.V.B. Cup presented by Mussett and Littlejohn, Whakatane, for best dairy heifer reared by a school child, Ailsa Heard, Galatea. > Ferguson Cup, presented by Brabant Bros., Whakatane, for most points in pedigree dairy cattle, J. Wilson, Galatea. Yardley Cup, presented by S. D, Yardley, Edgecumbe, for best bull >n show, J. Wilson, Galatea. President’s Cup, presented by Mr J. Wilson and Son, Galatea, for best dairy cow based on type and production, J. Wilson and Son. C. L. Hudson Cup, presented by C. L. Hudson, Whakatane, for champion dairy cow, J. Wilson, Galatea.
Salt Cup, presented by Frank Salt, Rotorua, for junior male champion, J. Wilson, Galatea. Fletcher Trophy (Silver Rose Bowl) presented by W. and R. Fletcher, Ltd., for junior female champion, dairy section, W. Black, Galatea.
W. and R. Fltcher Cup, presented by W. and R. Fletcher, for best porker, H. Goodhue, Galatea. Sharpe Cup, presented by H. W. Sharpe, Whakatane, for the open jump, T. Langdon, Taneatua. Cutler Bros. Cup, presented by Cutler Bros., Whakatane, for- best boy or girl rider, 14 years or under, N. McKay, Whakatane. Salad Service presented by Mr and Mrs R. Alexander, Murupara, for most points in Flower Section, Mrs W. Black, Galatea. Dhanjee Cup, presented by U, Dhanjee, Murupara, for most points in vegetable section, R. Heard, Galatea.
Souvenir ribbons, inscribed “First Galatea- A. & P. Show, 1950” were also presented to prize winners of all the ring events, cattle and pig classes.
