•Competition Shoot Next Sunday the Otakiri Archery Club is to hold a competition shoot on the range in Campbell’s paddock. The club day held last v/eek-end consisted of a practice shoot. - Venue Changed

Because of the lack of accommodation at Te Puke the Bay of Plenty .Rugby Union has now decided that the Bush District team will play Bay of Plenty at Rotorua. The date, July 22, has been unchanged. Scheme Supported ri Any scheme to hold a trial match at Whakatane to select a Bay of Plenty Rugby team is to be supported by the Tauranga Sub-Union. At the last meeting several speakers expressed dissatisfaction with th way the teams are selected at the present time. Shooting Championships Advice has been received from Cambridge by the Whakatane ..Legion Miniature Rifle Club, that the Waikato Rifle Championships will be held there on June 17. Whakatane officials expect to be well represented and hope to do well, as the standard of shooting has improved considerably since last year. Rangitaiki Rainfall A total of 10.34 inches of rain with the heaviest fall of 3.45 inches on May 12 was recorded on the Rangitaiki. Plains last month. This total was spread over a total of 15 rainy days. So far this year 23.11 inches has been recorded on the Plains with the average fall for May over the last ten years being 6.22 inches.

Hearing Adjourned As one member of the committee is out of New Zealand and will not be back until July the hearing of applications for new hotel and wholesale liquor licenses were adjourned by the Bay of Plenty Licensing Committee until August .1 at a meeting, at Rotorua yesterday. Several existing hotel licenses were renewed, including one at Whaka ■ tane.
