Misses K. and I. Doran, and M. Eggleton, Taneatua, are spending a holiday at the Chateau, Tongariro. ]VJr D. C. Stevens, ex-editor-ad-vertising manager of the Beacon, has accepted appointment as manager of the Thames Star Company, publishing an old established daily' newspaper. He left for Thames yesterday.
Captain N. Mole, Lieutenants C. Bathe, A. Judd and A. Smith, Ser-geant-Major F. Comer, Sergeants W. Tyssen, C. R. Coates and Frontiersmen R. S. Whittaker, B. Boon. B. Mole and E. R. Hunt representing Whakatane, attended the Dominion Legion of Frontiersmen annual conference at Auckland during the week-end.
