Wedding

MARTIN—MacD ON ALD

■u The Presbyterian Church, Whakatane, was the scene of a very pretty wedding of Ina Chr-istina, only daughter of Mr and Mrs Coll MacDonald, Awakeri, and Colin Alan, elder son of Mr and Mrs A. C. Martin, Awakeri. The Rev. R. T. Dodds officiated.

The bride wore a lovely gown of heavy satin and French embossed tinsel fashioned with fitted bodice and padded bustle. A fishue shoulderline finished in front while a cameo gift of the bridegroom gave an old world air. The skirt fell in deep folds to form a full train. A wreath of orange blossoms held her full length veil of embroidered tulle.

Bridesmaids were Miss Lynette Roberts, Karitane, fi'iend of the bride, and Miss Estha Ducker, cousin of the bridegroom. Their frocks, styled on similar lines to that of the bride’s were of French tinsel and brocade ice blue and orchid pink respectively. They wore half circlets of flowers and thll'e in their hair. Bouquets were in shades of pink and blue. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr David Martin, as best man, and the bride’s brother, Mr Warren MacDonald, was groomsman. Dr E. T. Dawson was organist. During the signing of the register a solo was sung by Mrs T. Ferguson.

The winter show hall was beautifully decorated for the reception, Mrs MacDonald wearing a deep fuschia shaded suit with navy accessories and a shoulder spray to tone, received the guests. She was assisted by Mrs Martin, who wore a silk frock in shades of blue, a fur coat and brown accessories with shoulder spray to tone.

For travelling the bride chose a cherry garbadine suit with mole grey accessories. A charming grey beaver hat trimmed with a white ostrich feather completed a smart outfit. Mr and Mrs Martin will make their future home at Awakeri.
