Annual Meeting Of Aivakeri Committee Is Poorly Attended
There was a poor attendance to the annual meeting of the Awakeri Hall Committee held on Tuesday night. In reviewing the year’s activities the chairman, Mr H. Carter, pointed out that in addition to spending over £3OO on hall improvements and maintenance the committee now had a credit of £I2OO towards the proposed memorial centre. “With two more years as successful as the one just past the target of £3OOO should be well in sight,” he stated.
An interesting fact, Mr Carter stated, was that £3OO had been raised from the proceeds of hall committee dances. He paid a tribute to the women of the district for their assistance with suppers for these dances-. Officers elected: —
Chairman, Mr H. Carter; committee, Mesdames Mahy and Keen, Messrs J. Farr, R. Keen, C. Martin, D. Carter, C. Smith.
