Businesses Will Observe Monday As King 's Birthday
Housewives in most centres in the Bay of Plenty will have to take in extra provisions for the long week-end because of the holiday on Monday when the King’s Birthday will be observed. Most businesses and shops at Whakatane will'" be closed after the . late shopping hour tonight until Tuesday morning. The Road Services will observe the usual hours over the week-end and on Monday normal Will operate except the Monday service to Waiohou and the delivery service in the borough. Apart from the telephone exchange all branches .of the Whakatane Post Office will be closed on Monday, However, urgent telegrams may be sent from the exchange. At Taneatua there will be a holiday on Monday but the usual shopping day will be observed tomorrow. This applies to other centres in the district also.
