COMMITTEE FOR HIGH SCHOOL TO BE ELECTED
Unusual interest has been shown in the establishment of the new Whakatane High School Committee of Management and nine candidates have been nominated for the seven positions on the committee. As a result of the two extra nominations an election is to be held at a meeting of householders at the high school on June 14. The set-up Of the new committee provides for seven members, four representing householders in the borough and three outside the borough. Seven nominations have come forward for the borough positions and three for those outside the borough so that an election will be required only for the borough seats.
The three candidates nominated outside the borough are:—> George Bernard Howard, Poroporo (farmer), Ernest Ralph Marry - att, Ohope (fields instructor), and John Alexander Stevenson, Ohope (driver). The nominations for the borough seats are:—
Richard Thomson Dodds (minister), Leslie David Lovelock (town clerk), Joyce Florence Lynds (housewife), Rudolph Bernhardt Mollgaard (accountant), Albert Edgar Shaw (civil engineer), Gabriel Alfred Wilkes (postmaster).
