Future Education Needs Of District Now Being Planned
Although the present unsatisfactory position at Whakatane of a secondary school and primary school being conducted on the same grounds impedes the growth of both schools, the future education needs of the district have not been lost sight of by the Auckland Education Board. Should present plans be carried out Whakatane will be well catered for with two primary schools and one secondary school, each with its. own separate grounds by 1952. The Board proposes to build one school somewhere north of Domain Road, and in the vicinity of the present infant block, and the other, somewhere in the vicinity of the Whakatane Bridge.
Hopes are held of completing the purchase of sites in the near future and that both schools will be built simultaneously. The beginning of 1952 is the tentative date set down for the occupation of both schools.
