Since the end of last year when the Whakatane District High School was disestablished there have been two separate and distinct schools. district is catered for-by. the> Whakatane High School whose Principal is Mr I. McHarg. The high school telephone number is 101 S, a£ listed in the pink sheet in the front of the telephone directory. The primary school, whose Headmaster is Mr A. H. Fryer-Raisher, is also on the same telephone line but the number is 101 D.
People ringing either school would save a great deal of inconvenience and confusion if, when ringing, they gave the correct letter with the telephone number.
