Native Tree To Commemorate Service

A suggestion by Cr L. W. Luxton that a tree should be planted in tlie Waimana Domain to commemorate the 21 years of Mr J. L. Burnett as a member of the Whakatane County Council was unanimously supported at a social gathering of councillors and wives at Whakatane this week. The gathering was held to celebrate the term of 21 years served on the council by Mr Burnett, 11 of which have been as chairman, and the clerk, Mr C. G. Lucas, and 25 years service of the engineer, Mr C. H. Brebner.

Mr Luxton said he felt that a native tree would ably commemorate Mr Burnett’s services to the district and it would probably be well looked after by the people of Waimana.
