Sir,— Hard cash in hand, but easy to splend It is well to remember your pockets your friend The borower’s always the slave of the lender . And usury never was known to be tender Prices and wages like mercury rise And fall with a thud of unpleasant surprise High finance is a gamble, Dame Fortune’s delight Who smiles in the morning and frowns before night’ Money talks it is true, but changes the turie From snow in December to roses in June Politicians, financeers, accountants galore Shepherd the money behind and before The hard cash that passes through such ...a close seive ■ Leaves nothing to * take _and little’s, to give The value of hard cash face valued is good For clothing and house rent taxes and food Cost of living and taxes are rising sky high Grubs that form wings for the money to fly May be to warmonger’s iitidlSpg ground Where millions of boodle for war can be found But when the scraps over I’m willing to bet The whole world will be poorer and deeper in debt Two wars have proved it, the third sakes alive Will sure be upsetting Uncle Samuel’s beehive.
