Use Of Horses As Dogs’ Meat Suggested

The number of straying animals seen on county roads was commented on at the monthly meeting of the Whakatane County Council yesterday. Horses were said to be the main trouble. A possible cure was suggested by Cr L. W. Luxton who thought that some horses might be purchased for dog meat. The Whakatane Hunt Club now owned a pack of hounds and as horse meat was considered excellent feed for dogs he thought a few of the horses might be used for that purpose. »
