Women’s Institutes Want Immigrant Housekeepers
At a recent executive meeting of the Eastern Bay of Plenty Federation of Women’s Institutes, Mrs L Grey, Taneatua, was elected secretary and Mrs K. Stewart, Whakatane, was re-elected treasurer. Mrs Stewart and Mrs Hollard were made vice-presidents and Mrs McCalliQn presided. It was decided to apply to the Minister of Labour for two housekeepers under the Immigrant Scheme to operate in the district. The dressmaking tutor, it was stated, was expected to commence her duties in the area early in June. Mrs D. Branch, Thornton, was elected convenor for this phase of council activities
Arrangements are now we 11... in hand for the Annual Drama Festival to be held this year at Waimana on May 31 and June 1, commencing each day at 10 a.m. Six plays are to be presented each day.
