Farmers Want Change In The Period Of Military Training

A remit suggesting that the Minister of Defence be approached requesting an alteration in the time of the compulsory military training period • May to August to between April and July met with the unanimous approval of the executive of the Bay of Plenty Province of Federated Farmers aad was passed with little discussion at their ■ quarterly meeting in Whakatane. j' The remit was put forward by ‘the Opotiki branch who considered that the present period of training would have a serious effect on the dairying industry. Accompanying the remit was an explanation pointing out that at •the time at present taken for the ■camp cows were in production from early July on most farms. By the middle of August a large proportion of the herds were in and the loss of help at this stage would be felt acutely.
