Patients Increase: Bigger Burden On Hospital Staff

The high number of patients in the Whakatane District Hospital last month caused the chairman of the Bay of Plenty Hospital Board, Mr J. Mullins, some concern at the monthly meeting yesterday. The average daily attendance was 105.46 Mr Mullins pointed out that the ■staff position was still very unsatisfactory and the increase in additions placed a further burden on already overworked staff, f During the month there were 171 admissions (60 male, 111 female) and 174 discharges (61, 113). There were two deaths and 41 births (24, 17). At the beginning of this month there were 95 patients remaining in the hospital.
