Bay Hockey Players May Seek Selection In N.Z. Men’s Rep Team
With trial matches at Auckland Bay of Plenty' hockey players will have an opportunity to seek some possible selection in the New Zealand men’s hockey team, which is to visit Australia in June. The team will be called on to face an exceptionally heavy programme of travelling and matches so that those who make the trip will have to be prepared for* a full and busy time.
On several occasions the team will be required to play matches on two consecutive days, and in one instance two of the consecutive matches will be against State teams.
The itinerary published in Australia is:—June 24 v Sydney Metropolitan; June 26 v Illawarra, at Wollongong; June 28 v Newcastle; June 29 v Tamworth; July 1 v Far North Coast, at Lismore; July 4 v Bundaberg;. July 6 v Maryborough; July 8 v Queensland; July 10 v Ipswich; July 12 v Warwick; July 15 v New South Wales; July 17 v Lithgow; July 19 v Bathurst; July 21 v Canbera; July 22 v Central South, at Goulburn; July 25 v Tasmania, at Adelaide; July 26 v Western Australia, at Adelaide; July 29 v Australia, at Adelaide; July 31 v South Australia, at Adelaide; August 2 v Melbourne Metropolitan; August 3 v Combined Australian Universities; August 5 v Victoria, at Melbourne. The dates of the Canberra and Goulburn games may be interchanged and the Combined Universities match is subject to the approval f the Australian Universities’ Sports Council.
