Kiwi Seen on Hongi’s Track

Rarely seen at any time the appearance of a fully grown Kiwi in the middle of Hongi’s Track at about 8.30 p.m. on Sunday gave Mr and Mrs W. H. Whittaker, who were returning to Whakatane at the time, rather a surprise. The bird hopped about on the road quite unconcerned and Mr Whittaker had to stop his car to avoid running over it.
