Traffic Offences Decided Yesterday
A number of traffic offences were dealt with by Mr E. L. Walton, S.M., in the Whakatane Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Keith Bernard Magee, cadet, Matata, was fined ss, costs 13s, for driving a car and not having a current drivers’ licence. Peter John Kendall, driver, fined £2, costs 12s, for failing to keep a vehicle as far to the left of the road as possible. Glen Samson, farmhand, Awakeri, fined £l, costs 12s, for riding a motor cycle without a silencer. William John Gleeson, contractor, Opotiks, fined £2, costs £l, operating a school vehicle with no heavy registration numbers.
For operating motor vehicles with excess axle loading, Robert Frederick Cornelius Curry, contractor, Te Whaiti, convicted and fined £4, costs £1; Ron Smith Ltd., Opotiki, fined £4, costs 10s; John Gullon Terence London, Te Whaiti, fined £3, costs £1 11s; Timber Transport Co. Ltd., three charges, fined £ll. ■costs £1 10s.
