R.N.Z.A.F. Operations Two Mosquitoes from No. 75 Squadron, R.N.Z.A.F., Ohakea, will fly to Fiji early this month. This exercise will be culmination of a training period during which time the Mosquitoes have carried out navigational flights to the Kermadecs and Chatham Islands.

Service Recognised

Plans to recognise the long service to. Whakatane and surrounding district in some tangible form before Dr. F. J. Appleby retires to live at the lakes were made by the Whakatane Chamber of Commerce last week. Several tributes were paid to the work of Dr. Appleby for the community by the president, Mr B. L. Butler, and other members and it was felt that some move should be made to give the different organisations and people of the district some opportunity to show their appreciation of his work.
