Swimming Pool Is Still Wanted

The Whakatane Chamber of Commerce is still keen an a scheme to have a swimming pool constructed at Whakatane and at last week’s meeting it was decided to write to the Mayor again asking him to call a public meeting to discuss the question. Mr G. A. Wilkes waxed sarcastic on the slowness of any progress and suggested : “If you want to work up any enthusiasm on a swimming pool then I suggest we bring it up again on a cold night in the middle of v/inter.”
