United Cricket Club Players Review Very Successful Season
The 1949/50' cricket season has now been completed and a most successful year was enjoyed by the United Club. A series of home and away friendly matches was played and the club succeeded in winning 12 of these games and losing two. In addition, the William’s Cup was successfully challenged for late in the season, the Te Puke Club (1948/49 holders) being defeated. The club then withstood challenges from the R.S.A. Club, Rotorua, P. and T. Club, Whakatane, and the Woodlands Club, Opotiki, thus becoming the 1949/50 holders of the trophy.
In all, United played 18 matches, won 15, drew one, lost two. The following'are the team averages in all matches:—
