PLANS MADE TO OVERHAUL FIRE ENGINE

An approval of £1125 for the estimates for the coming year will include the complete overhaul of the fire engine it was stated at the annual meeting of the Whakatane Fire Board on Wednesday night. This was now necessary and had been planned for some time. A similar agreement was advised the Te Puke Urban Fire Authority, which wrote asking for advice about the IYZ radio transmitter at Paengaroa. The Authority had been approached by the broadcasting authorities asking for the brigade to attend the transmitter in the case of a fire. «
