Kowhai Women's Institute Has Second Birthday
A very enjoyable evening was held in the Parish Hall, Whakatane, when the Kowhai Women’s Institute celebrated their Second birthday. Mrs C. Cooper, the president, welcomed all those present, and presented a spray to members with birthdays in April. A surnames competition, which proved very popular, was won by Mrs S. Whitworth, while musical parcels was won by Mrs C. Prowse. The Quiz competition was won by Mesdames I. Sutcliffe and R. Murphy. A musical mime “Riding Down From Bangor” was presented by the Drama and Glee Clubs. A delicious supper was served by the hostesses and the birthday cake was cut by the retiring secretary, Miss D. Richardson. Competition results:—
Box of chocolates, Mis B. Johnson; decorated bowl of flowers, Mrs’ W. Sullivan; jar of pickles, Mrs V. Timbs.
