WEDDING BELLS

BARR—BLACK The Presbyterian Church, Edgecumbe, was the scene of a very pretty wedding on Easter Saturday when Mae Nicol, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. E. Black, Edgecumbe, was married to James Muir, eldest son of Mr and Mrs A. B. Barr, Awakeri. The Rev J. H. Starnes officiated.

The bride wore a beautiful gown of French brocade, fashioned with lohg fitted sleeves and a circular tulle yolk. The skirt fell' in deep folds to form a long train. She wore a full length veil of embroidered tulle and carried a lovely bouquet of Phillippinese lilies and fern. The bridesmaids, Misses Noeline and Alison Black, were frocked alike in turquoise blue with crownless picture hats to match and carried bouqqets of roses and dahlias in deep apricot tonings.

The bridegroom was attended by Mr J. Buddie, best man, and Mr J. Hawken, groomsman. During the signing of the register, a solo “This Radiant Way,” was sung by Miss Lois Hawkins.

The reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents “Lesleigh,” Edgecumbe, where Mrs Black .wearing a navy suit with accessories to match and a deep rose shoulder spray, received the guests. She was assisted by Mrs Barr, who wore a deep rose pink ensemble With matching accessories and shoulder spray to tone. For travelling the bride chose a charming suit of beige wool with hat to match, nigger brown accessories, and a shoulder spray in autumn tonings. Mr and Mrs Barr will make their future home at Awakeri.
