Farmers May Get Extra Petrol Ration
“If cases are authentic farmers in the Bay of Plenty will have no difficulty in getting extra petrol,” stated the Provincial Secretary of Federated Farmers, Mr E. J. Vosper, commenting on a reply received by the head office of the Federation from the Commissioner of Transport after a request for a reinstatement of the 10 per cent cut in the petrol ration to farmers for use in farm trucks and tractors. It was the policy to ensure reasonable supplies of petrol to farmers to cover their farming activities, stated the commissioner, and his local controllers had been instructed to see that no farmer went short of the petrol necessary to his work. He did not feel that any general restoration Was called for as the majority of those farmers who needed more petrol had already had their licenses adjusted.
