Pigs & Sheep Come Forward Well At Fortnightly Sale
A good yarding of pigs was penned at the fortnightly pig sale held at Te Puke by the Farmers’ Cooperative Auctioneering Company. The majority of animals were good quality porkers and medium bacon. Competition was keen and prices hardened on late high rates. Medium weight bacon was very keenly sort while store and weaner pigs were dull of sale.
A medium entry of store lambs was penned and sold at .'ate rates. Quotations: —
Pigs: Choppers, £5 to £8 17s 6d, heavy bacon pigs, £7 2s to £7 3s, medium bacon pigs, £6 18s to £7 Is, light bacon, £6, to £6 10s, heavy porkers and buttermilk pigs, £5 5s to £5 18s, medium porkers. £4 12s to £5 3s, light porkers £3 7s to £4 Bs, store pigs £2 10s to £3 ss, slip 34s to £2 2s, weaners, 13s 6d to 275. Sheep: Shorn for war’d black faced lambs to 28s, shorn white faced wether iambs, 24s to 295, nediurn quality ewe lambs to 30s
