Poor Feed And Dry Weather Has Effect On Stock Sale Prices
A large yarding of cattle came forward, including a good number of steers in forward condition to the Te Puke stock sale conducted by the New Zealand Loan apd Mercantile Agency Go. Ltd. last week. Continued dry weather and poor feed conditions in this, and also in outside districts, had a steadying effect on the market but though prices were lower than recent quotations vendors in most cases met the market and a good clearance was effected. Fat and boner cattle sold under keen competition at increased prices. Little interest was displayed 'in the sheep section, there being no enquiry for breeding ewes at present. Pigs were again yarded in good numbers with values fully equal to late rates and with a firming tendency on small pigs.
