Rowing

CLUB TO CLOSE SEASON TOMORROW Like most of the other summer sports rowing will draw to a close in the Bay of Plenty tomorrow when the Whakatane Club will officially close what must be its most successful season yet. Races will be held between various club “crews tomorrow commencing at 9 a.m. and finishing off the club shed. The afternoon races start at 1.30. Some exciting events are expected. During the season the club entered at least four crews in each of the five regattas it attended and gained eight wins and seven seconds. There were other minor placings too. As may be expected from this performance the club rowing has improved immensely and Whakatane people who have yet to see the crews in action will have an opportunity of doing so tomorrow.
