Retailers Protest At Power Cuts
A strong protest was made by Whakatane retailers at the power cut from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. on Friday evenings, at a meeting in Whakatane Wednesday night. While it was agreed that the'' cut was probably necessary it was felt that the power should be left on during the late shopping evening and 'made up at some other time. After some discussion a delegation was elected to wait on the borough council. The meeting was one of the largest yet called of retailers and was attended by about 50.
